Tallahassee Grapevine - Random Thoughts on a Monday

It's pouring rain outside.  I managed to sneak out to get a late lunch in between downpours. I have been working all day on the sponsored blogs - getting ready for this week's newsletter for Tallahassee Grapevine.

I was stressed out yesterday. I felt that we did not have any articles to include in the newsletter. As of right now, I have 9. Which is too many. And it is only Monday. People could write more before Wednesday. Ugh.

I am doing some work for a Tallahassee Dentist.  Trying to get his site optimized. I hope he understands that it takes time.

I am pretty excited because a lot of our generic keyword searches are pulling us up on the front page of Google now. Phrases like Tallahassee Coupons  or Tallahassee Blogs  or Tallahassee Events  or even Tallahassee Marketing -  Plus, a lot of firms in town are now signing up to use the site. It reminds me of Anchorman's "I'm kind of a big deal around here..."

We hired a salesperson today. He will do well. He needs to network. Once he exhausts his circle, he will have to have a pipeline going.

I guess I am done for today. Thanks for reading my rant. Amen.

TallahasseeGrapevine.com Is Growing Stonger Day by Day

The Difference Between Tallahassee Grapevine and Facebook.

A Grapevine site is a social media network JUST for your local area but with more attributes - Like you do not have to be a friend of a friend to find an interest group, an event or read an article. It is more like a Free Press Magazine for Your Community. There is only one Facebook, it is just REALLY big. But there is a Grapevine for each community. All separate. There are going to be Grapevines in 100s of communities, maybe even 1000s when it is all said and done... Because It All Comes Back to Local.

When you think about it, Facebook is local.  Unless someone had moved around a lot, I would gander that 85 to 90% of the People and Businesses that you are connected to are local.  Why would you LIKE a pizza place in Milwaukee when you live in Philadelphia?  It is local because that is what people want, that is where they are comfortable.  Sure we might let a big celebrity, artist, movie or national chain or product slip in there - but they advertise locally, too.

People are bound to their community, it is where they work, shop, go to church, socialize...

That is why we have such a comprehensive event calendar on any Grapevine. If you were putting on an Event in Tallahassee, why wouldn't you want to create a nice page for it anywhere you could?  Anywhere potential attendees would come see it. Especially when it is as easy as it is on Tallahassee Grapevine.

Think about it. Until then... see you on Tallahassee Grapevine... and Savannah Grapevine... and Rochester Grapevine... and Milwaukee Grapevine... Etc etc etc.

Tallahassee Grapevine gets once in a lifetime opportunity

The folks here at Tallahassee Grapevine are excited.  We launched in June of 2010 with a vision but no clear way to get there. We knew the site had tremendous potential to be like free press for the local community.  With the blog articles, the event calendar and the video classifieds - we were very unique as everyone could design their own pages for whatever they had to say.

We really hit our groove in early 2011 after 8 months of growing pains and learning curves.  Now we feel we have the system for success down. The whole point of a Grapevine is that it is local. It is not like Facebook where there is only one national site. The Grapevine's are all separate and JUST for that specific city, region or community.

There are already 200 Grapevines ready to be licensed with plans to create 1000 more in the United States and Canada.

Besides Tallahassee, we are focusing on the following sites:
Savannah Grapevine
Downeast Grapevine
Hudson Valley Grapevine
Milwaukee Grapevine
Rochester Grapevine
Rome Grapevine in Georgia
Mohave Grapevine in Arizona

We are so excited! We are going to have a launch party at University Center Club at Florida State University very soon!

Big Plans for Tallahassee Grapevine

TallahasseeGrapevine.com launched on June 20, 2010.

It's local, do-it-yourself community format kept users coming back to see what articles were being written, what events were happening that night or weekend in Tallahassee, to find a Tallahassee coupon, start a group or use any of the many, many features.

We even started a new feature called "Buzz on the 'Vine" in which we take pictures of our neighbors out and about at Tallahassee events and post them in the magazine. What Fun!

The big news is, with so much success here in Tallahassee, we are taking it national! There will be a Grapevine is over 100 cites within one year! We hope to one day have one in over 1000 cities and regions!

There Will Be a Grapevine just like Tallahassee Grapevine in Your City Soon!

Tallahassee Grapevine Important Part of The Buyer's Journey

In Coach Grape's Tallahassee Marketing Spotlight series, he recently wrote about The Buyer's Journey. You can read the full article here: http://www.tallahasseegrapevine.com/blog/view/id_917/title_tallahassee-marketing-spotlight-the-buyer's/

I want to add my two-cents in - I warned and warned people that those SEO plans were like "Get Rich Quick Schemes" - everyone knows they did not start their business and become successful overnight - so why would getting to the top of Google be any different.

Content IS King. Trying to cheat your way to the top is not sustainable and you have to keep perpetuating the lie.

Besides, when the buyer sits down to research solutions to their problems... your Dex listing is NOT going to satisfy their thirst for knowledge.

YOU need to be the one educating them. This establishes you as the expert and experts are sought out and hardly ever have to compete on price. They want to trust you!

Now, Google has cracked down on the "landing page SEO" crap and most have disappeared from the listings. Which is great for the Grapevine, because it moved us up to the top... Why? Because we did it the old fashioned way: We Earned It!

Tallahassee Grapevine Momentum

We here at http://www.tallahasseegrapevine.com are excited about the amount of traffic the site is now generating.

We have noticed a lot of people enjoy reading local articles written by the people and experts of Tallahassee.  The Tallahassee Events Calendar is still the most popular aspect of TallahasseeGrapevine.com

This week we have an article on World Ballet, A Viral Video of the Week, a local couple's trip to Venice, Italy, The Chemistry of a Fart, Sally Rude talks about appraising antiques and Laurel Blackburn of Bootcamp Fitness talks about making changes vs making excuses.

The newest column by Mick Buchanan will help us learn more about the Tallahassee Music Scene.

We are also seeing an uptick in people using the Tallahassee Free Classifieds. We just need more people to realize they can stream video to the classified. That would be unique, effective and fun!

But to keep this all coming to you, we still need local business sponsors. They get more than just a listing in the Tallahassee Business Directory or the Tallahassee Restaurant Guide.  They can also participate in the site in other aspects. One popular items is the local Tallahassee Coupons the people can just click and print.

The Tallahassee Grapevine Business Directory and Coupon Pages

The Tallahassee Grapevine is the closest thing we have to free press that there is.  It is local (so people actually read the content) and it is public (You write the articles, post events, etc).

The way we are funded are through local sponsors - Tallahassee Businesses.  We encourage the businesses to write articles for us to educate the public on anything from travel to health to pet care to antiques. All written by local experts you can actually call on the phone or go and meet. This is what grassroots is all about.

One feature we are promoting right now is the Tallahassee Restaurants Guide.  It features restaurants with maps, menu, hours, information, coupons and you can leave testimonials right on their page!

Another feature is our Tallahassee Music Guide - it features local Tallahassee Bands and Musicians, how to get in touch with them to hire them for a gig, plus their playlist and videos so you can "audition" them online!

You can read or write Tallahassee Blogs and Articles and we feature the best articles on our homepage and in our weekly eZine (emailed to over 4300 subscribers every Thursday)

Our newest promotion to the public is to get them to use Video in our Tallahassee Classified Ads. The ONLY site that lets you post video in your FREE ad. Imagine being able to adopt the pets out or sell your Jetski with a video of them!

We also have a Tallahassee Coupons page for local businesses.  Just Click and Print!

Okay... time for bed. I am just excited about all the traffic and fun stuff I get to do by running the site. I get invited to most of the events on the Tallahassee Events Calendar.
